SILK Empowered

Welcome to our website. It is currently under construction.
Please check back later to see our progress.

The organization formed in May of 2008 with the intent to accomplish the following mission:  Mission of SILK Empowered – We help rebuild women’s lives that have been victims of domestic violence through programs focused on building Strength, Independence, Love and Knowledge (SILK) that will empower them to have eventual home ownership.

The ultimate vision of the organization is: Vision Statement – We want to break the cycle of domestic violence by empowering every woman in the United States to become self-sufficient.

From the Founder: “Thank you very much for visiting our website.  SILK Empowered was born when I thought to myself ‘What if I create an organization designed to meet these women in their place of need and then show them how they can realize the American Dream of home ownership?  I understand the real estate market, I can tap into community connections to bring people together to offer the programs these women need, and I believe there must be like-minded donors/property owners like me who would like to help.’” – Candace Vanice

Not only will SILK Empowered be offering self-esteem programs such as physical fitness to these women, but also will help build a bridge to homeownership. This will include buying a building for transitional living as well as a creating a network of rent to own homes at affordable prices.
