WELCOME TO SILK EMPOWERED

SILK Empowered realizes that the needs for the victims of domestic violence are constantly changing.  Yearly, the government is changing the requirements for government funded grants for our local shelters.  With continual public awareness there are new programs or facilities that become available for the victims.  However, there are still gaps that will always need to be filled.  SILK Empowered is dedicated to being a dynamic organization; prepared to change and meet the changing needs as they arise.

The Color Purple
Purple is the color of dignity and self-respect ... it imparts determination and feeling of being in control, clears the mind of negative influences, calms nervousness and relieves stress.

The Butterfly
There is a Native American legend that says, "If you have a secret wish, capture a butterfly and whisper your wish to it. Since butterflies cannot speak, your secret is ever safe in their keeping. Release the butterfly, and it will carry your wish to the Great Spirit, who alone knows the thoughts of butterflies.  By setting the butterfly free, you are helping to restore the balance of nature, and your wish will surely be granted."

The butterfly is a powerful symbol for transformation. It leaves the safety of the cocoon in its new form.   This butterfly is confined within the cocoon, which symbolizes the pain and entrapment associated with domestic violence.
